Current and future taxation, financial reporting in light of the pandemic and the UK’s withdrawal from the EU are the topics of the day as we host our first virtual update on Wednesday 21st October.
Providing a topical update on the financial, reporting and tax issues affecting businesses and organisations, our Finance Leaders Update, co-hosted with financial recruitment specialists Interaction Recruitment (Accountancy & Finance), is prime for Finance Directors, Chief Finance Officers and Senior Finance Managers.
Taking place on Wednesday, 21st October, this free presentation will run from 11:00am - 12:30pm.
By way of an introduction Doug Greer, Division Director (Accounting and Finance) at Interaction Recruitment, will provide an overview of the Accountancy and Finance recruitment landscape since the emergence of COVID-19 and what experiences and challenges have been faced by candidates, clients and recruiters alike.
Luke Prout, one of our Tax Partners, will then deliver a piece on what might have been in the Budget and what can you do now.
Luke said: “Whilst the Autumn Budget has been cancelled, it is widely reported and more than expected that businesses and individuals will face increased taxation to help recoup the cost of measures put in place to support the economy during the pandemic. With this background in mind, I will look at potential tax-saving ideas for businesses for 2020/21 as well as an insight into possible areas that may be targeted in the next Budget.”
Robert Anderson, an Audit Partner, will look at the effects of the pandemic and its influence on year-end reporting.
Robert said: “Few, if any businesses, will not have been affected by the impact of the pandemic. A situation which will no doubt see the need to re-visit financial management and reporting. My presentation will look at the impact of the situation in relation to year-end financial statements, provisions and valuations, going concerns and disclosures and when to report.”
Gerry Myton, a Partner and our Head of Indirect Tax, will present on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU and what businesses need to do now and post 1st January 2021.
Gerry said: “With less than 90 days until the end of the transition arrangement following the UK’s departure from the EU, my presentation will provide an update on the upcoming implications of Brexit at New Year.
“I will cover everything you will need to know on distance selling, the import one-stop-shop and fulfilment by Amazon as well as importing to the UK, exporting to the EU and trading with the EU.”
