For many years The Cambridge Cheese Company used Sage 50 Accounts and at year end they would email us a back up to prepare the year end accounts from.
Three years ago, we assisted in the migration of the accounts data from Sage to Xero.
As well as no longer having to deal with year end backups, the move to online reporting means that we are able to login to Xero in real time and review the accounts. This has meant we can deal with any accounting queries as they occur so that the accounts are kept accurate and tidy throughout the year.
As we approach the year end we can easily undertake a pre-year end review, helping with planning to maximise profits and mitigate tax.
Things have moved quickly this year with the outbreak of Covid-19, escalating the need for high street stores to have a strong online presence. Being on cloud software has meant that Xero can be integrated with a PayPal bank feed – saving significant time compared to downloading and manually recording each online sale.
Shopify online web store software is now being used to manage the online shop and integrated with Xero to automate the recoding of all online sales and their payments.
Three years on and there is no looking back – the move to Xero was very straight forward and being on the cloud means the bookkeeping duties are now spread across more staff members, easing the workload of the owners.
Well used online software coupled with a good relationship with your accountant can really aid the growth of your business, enhance your business knowledge and ultimately save you time and money.
