Streets Chartered Accountants, a top 40 UK accounting firm, has opened a new Northamptonshire office at the recently opened Enterprise Centre East Northants (ECEN).
The move comes following increased demand for the firm’s services from businesses and individuals from across the county. Up until now clients have been looked after by the firm’s other offices in Wyboston Lakes and Peterborough.
Streets new Northamptonshire office will be led by Tax Partners Luke Prout and Jennie Brown, both of whom have a long association with the county in which they live and work, along with Accountancy and Audit Partners Ben Halstead and Jonathan Day. During the current situation they will be supported by existing staff working across the firm’s offices but it is planned that as the economy and work picks up they will look to recruit further team members locally.
Commenting on the opening of the new office, Luke Prout, Tax Partner, said: “We have been keen to open a Northamptonshire office for some time. The challenge is being able to find something that is both ideally located and that provides a contemporary and progressive workspace. The ECEN is ideally situated giving easy access and connectivity to clients located in Northampton and Kettering as well as the wider county of Northamptonshire.”
Brian Andrews, Managing Director South at BizSpace, ECEN’s operator, said: “BizSpace, in partnership with East Northamptonshire Council who own the building, is delighted to have Streets Chartered Accountants as a flagship customer at the new business centre. After seeing an industry trend of well-established businesses looking to expand their regional presence, we are glad flexible workspace can accommodate customers like Streets. We look forward to watching them grow here in Northants.”
When asked about plans for the firm in Northamptonshire, Luke said: “The new office enables us to enhance the service we provide to our clients already located in the county, but also the exciting opportunity to develop our business in the area. In particular we have seen a growing need and demand for advice with more complex tax planning matters, as well as the need for high quality audit and assurance services, along with commercially minded advice and support to deal with the increasing challenges faced by businesses.
“Whilst we have the technical expertise to support clients, we also pride ourselves on having depth of understanding of the needs of businesses and the sectors in which they operate. In particular we are more than aufait with the needs of the broad range of businesses across Northamptonshire, which include many successful owner-managed and family businesses through to UK subsidiaries. Our third sector team also works with charities and the education sector including Academies.”
Jennie Brown, who joined Streets as a Tax Partner at the beginning of the year, having previously worked for other practices in Northamptonshire and with many well established business and professional connections, says she is delighted to be based back in her home county.
“The county is close to my heart, having been born in Kettering and now living in Northampton, it is great to back on home ground. Working with Luke I am looking forward to being able to support local businesses and individuals, providing proactive corporate and personal tax advice and planning. Certainly the coming months and perhaps years ahead see a perfect storm brewing for tax, starting with the Chancellor’s Budget in the Autumn, where it would be naive not to expect tax increases. Being up to speed with changes and their impact will be key, along with being able to advise businesses and private clients locally, I am looking forward to hopefully being the person people turn to.”
The new office for Streets in Northamptonshire now means the mid-tier and multi-regional firm has a total of 16 offices including its specialist offices in London and Brighton, along with general practice offices throughout the East of England, East Midlands and Yorkshire. Internationally the firm provides advice and support through its own global association SBC Global Alliance.
