Trading with the European Union post 31 December 2020
Gerry Myton, Partner & Head of Indirect Tax, Streets London
The UK ceased to be a member of the European Union (EU27) on 31 January 2020. The UK Government has begun to set out the trading landscape post 31 December 2020. There will be no frictionless trade with the EU after the end of the transition period. Customs declarations and checks that currently only apply to trade with non-EU countries will become the norm for goods moving between the EU27 and the UK.
Senior UK Government ministers have confirmed that “The UK will be outside the single market and outside the customs union, so we will have to be ready for the customs procedures and regulatory checks that will inevitably follow”. What does that mean for businesses and those charged with company finance? Gerry’s presentation will consider, from a financial and taxation perspective, what trading with the EU post 31st December will mean.

Luke’s presentation will include coverage of the recent Budget and announcements that will affect those charged with managing the financial affairs of a business.
In addition, Luke will provide an overview of Enterprise Management Incentives (‘EMI’) employee share options schemes which are HMRC approved share schemes for key employees and senior management to help attract and retain key talent. Luke will also cover unapproved schemes where EMI schemes would not be available, including providing an overview on growth/freezer share schemes.
The extension of the IR35 rules across the private sector
Jennie Brown, Tax Partner, Streets Chartered Accountants
Jennie will provide an update on the extension of the IR35 rules across the private sector, how the responsibility to assess IR35 has changed and what impact this will have on businesses. She will recap on the rules that continue to be in place for contractors operating as sole traders without a Limited Company and highlight the rules for Non-Executive Directors, two areas which we continue to see many businesses get caught out by.
The Imperial War Museum will be open for delegates to look round after the event - your chance to get up close to over a century of aviation with hundreds of aircraft and objects on display.
